Emergencies/Urgent Medical Treatment

Out of Hours Telephone 03000 33 99 33
(at weekends and Bank Holidays and from 6.00pm to 8.00am during the week)

Bath Emergency Medical Service logoBetween the hours of 6.00pm to 8.00am you will be connected to the Bath Emergency Medical Services (BEMS). This is the doctors’ deputising service. All out of hours calls are taken by a call centre. A member of the team will call you back to see how the service may help you. If a visit is required you will be visited by one of their doctors.

You may be offered an emergency consultation at The Royal United Hospital Ambulatory care dept next to the emergency department. Numerous surgeries run out of hours and you will be offered a timed appointment to attend.

Please do not use this number for routine enquiries or to try and make a routine appointment.

OTHER SOURCES OF HELP

NHS Walk in Centres

There are three NHS Walk in Centres in our area, one in Bath, one in the centre of Bristol and one at Knowle. If you are unable to get back to Keynsham for an appointment in the surgery you can use one of these centres. They are able to advise and give treatments for minor injuries and illnesses. NHS Walk in Centres do not replace your local GP but should be seen as supporting the services that we provide. To find out the address of your nearest NHS Walk in Centre call NHS Direct on 0845 4647. These health centres are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week.

NHS Direct Telephone 0845 4647

NHS Direct is a 24 hour nurse advice and health information service that can offer professional help if you or your family are feeling ill. For the price of a local call NHS Direct enables you to speak directly to experienced nurses and professional advisors 24 hours a day.

Accident and Emergency Services

The nearest major accident and emergency centres are at the Royal United Hospital, Bath and Bristol Royal Infirmary. Minor casualty work is undertaken by the practice doctors and nurses but we have no x-ray facilities so if a bone is obviously broken and first aid has been carried out, go straight to hospital.
